    The 2009 film "Avatar" is a groundbreaking cinematic experience, which can be a fundamental starting point for the analysis of popular culture. The film is directed by James Cameron, who also directed other famous films such as "Titanic" and "The Terminator". "Avatar" was the first film which successfully sent out the 3D effect as the main role, and broke the traditional cinematography method. After ten years of development in 3D technology and adaptation of film which gives the audience a reason to adapt the new style marketing strategy that started from "Avatar". Because of that, films using 3D effect became more popular and influenced a lot in the film industry. "Avatar" was not only welcomed by the audience, but the related products and publications presented a good marketing strategy. Many people, according to the future development of 3D technology, put lots of efforts to observe all the main technology and its valuable application on related engineering field. Also, "Avatar" proposed a lot of discussions on film's creation and also ethical issues. Especially in the role of Jake, who is human but acting like a real Navi, and brings out different opinions and considerations of what it is exactly visual effects and human creation in the digital age.

     

Background of the film

• Avatar is a science fiction film written and directed by James Cameron. The film was first released in 2009 and was highly successful. It was praised for its groundbreaking use of technology to create an immersive 3D viewing experience and its use of computer-generated imagery. In fact, the film was considered so groundbreaking from a technological standpoint that it is often credited with having advanced the cause of 3D cinema and contributed to a resurgence of 3D films and cinema going in the late 2000s and early 2010s. There are currently four planned sequels to the film, with the first sequel due to be released in December 2022. Cameron has said that the scripts and story for the sequels are informed by the extensive fictional universe and backstory that he created for "Avatar" and its world of Pandora, as well as the themes and characters of the first film. He has also stated that the sequels will be a true continuation of the story of "Avatar", rather than a series of standalone sequels. The film is also known for its heavy use of allegory, with its story being interpreted as a retelling of Pocahontas or of the European colonization of the Americas.
